In order to develop strong relationships we must be who we say we are and be true to ourselves. We must be the example that we suggest to others, the example that we want to see in the world.
Trust is perhaps the single most important ingredient in community and relationship building. We cannot expect others to commit and be responsible for their part in the venture if they do not trust that we will do the same.
Transparency builds trust as well as manages mistrust. We must demonstrate that we are not trying to deceive or manipulate. Our consortium is open and our relationships must not fall into power games.
People who regard a system as legitimate and fair will often respect that system’s decisions and results even if it does not give what everyone asks. Fairness as well as transparency contributes to trust.
